Westfriedhof

Visitor address and travel

The verified visitor address is Schnieglinger Straße 71, 90419 Nürnberg. Bus routes 35, 38 and 39 serve the Westfriedhof Kreuzung interchange. The usual route 6 connection may change during current construction works, so check current VGN or VAG information immediately before travelling. The map marker identifies a point inside the cemetery, not an entrance.

Checking access before a visit

Seasonal access arrangements should be checked in the City of Nuremberg’s current visitor information before setting out. The visitor address is distinct from the cemetery administration’s postal address, so use Schnieglinger Straße 71 for the destination rather than an office postcode.

From Centralfriedhof to Westfriedhof

The cemetery opened on 25 July 1880 as the Centralfriedhof. Its area grew from about 16 to roughly 39 hectares, and around 38,000 burial spaces are now recorded. An official overview plan assists with preparation. The cemetery administration also provides a mobility service to carry visitors with limited mobility to a grave and back.

Preparing grave care

An enquiry should provide the cemetery, deceased person, known location references, requested work and time frame. An existing photograph can add context. This portal is independent and is neither the cemetery administration nor an official City of Nuremberg service.
